Alternatively, what Pokemon would some of the characters have?

Of course they would have to be redrawn to have human proportions (except for Sigilyph and Claydol)

To be fair, Pokemon are too lifelike and not enough humanoid. Maybe Deoxys would work, but not much more.

Digimon would work fine though, check QueenChessmon and LordKnightmon/Crusadermon to name a few. Literally no edit needed.
