Yeah I totally thought that I'd be able to battle Wicke. Very disappointing. Overall Aether was pretty lackluster. When you think about it only Lusamine and Guzma were interesting. Wicke, Faba, Plumeria were all boring characters

Most of the Ice types are only available at the end of the game, what kind of retard would build a team of Ice types when the only ones really available beforehand are Cloyster and Eevee/Crabrawler

Gen 6 didn't have a Ghost Specialist, Gen 2 didn't have a Fire Specialist, Gen 2, 3, and 6 don't have Ground specialists. It's not like we had a specialist for every type every generation.

Yeah, because there's a limited amount of specialists, usually 12 or 13. In SM there are literally 17 acknowledged specialists. Every single type except for Ice, which has had a specialist every single generation until now; the late-game ice challenge was a staple. It's not strawgrasping.

Do you count remakes as part of Gens? If so Gen 6 had Phoebe for Ghost, 2 had Blaine for Fire(no Ground, though), and 3 had Giovanni(do you battle him in FRLG? Been a while since I played those).

Are people just ignoring the fact the Professor was the one you fought to become Champ on top of an icy Mountain and that he used an Alolan Ninetails.

If anything this just lends itself to the Professor being the ice specialist. Of course this is wrong anyway because specialist implies one type and neither the Professor nor any protagonist has ever been a specialist.

I used a team of Ninetales (traded), Sandslash, Glaceon, Lapras and Froslass (Dawn Stone traded) with my starter Primarina and it was somewhat like Ice specialising. I did not even intend that but if that fits, that is cool. My only problem is a lot of these mons either are unavailable or come really late. Glaceon and Crawbrawler acquisition comes into mind, and Froslass is not even available until after the E4 or if you were lucky with Pelago. Other Ice mons available are Sneasel and Scan Swinub, I think. I cannot think of many other Ice mons.

Weavile, both alolan forms especially to set up dat hail and daul screens, frosslass to help with fighting types, carbominable, and last but not least, your ace, the rare and hard to catch pokemon that none of the other type specialists have on their teams:

The TCG doesn't give us all the types and those symbols in Diantha's room were garbage quality
