The whole "japanese husbands are workaholics and never home" explanation doesn't really hold to me. They have no problem showing other secondary characters with fathers at home and men all over every region are mozying about not doing anything you'd traditionally identify as 'work'. Furthermore, if this is true why not just mention the father's occupation and have him in game at work where you could visit him? Maybe he's a businessman in castelia city or a electrician at the power plant. Maybe just once the mc is actually the professor's child, >inb4 oaklol
