I wouldn't be bothered by it personally, but as to it happening:

1) it's a childrens game,
2) Nintendo doesn't like to make "political" statements

Absolutely it's stupid that we can't.

Also we need more fashion choices in general, I wanna battle with fancy princess dresses or idol outfits, hell we need ginjinka costumes too.

Like at least add more for men.
