The battles now use the shift mode but only can do 3 switches per battle. and moves like parting shot and u-turn are limited by that rule

Moves that affect stats by 2 levels affect all other Pokemon in the party by 1 level. Scary Face lowers your enemy's speed by 2 and their teammate's by one. Buffs and deuffs become even more prevalent.

Speed is no longer binary. The speed of the two active pokemon are weighed against each other as a % chance.

Even if it's a onix vs a weavile, the onix still has a chance of going first, even if it's a very low one.

ledian' new ability ups all stats by 3 stages, including hp and accuracy, if the opponent has a legendary on the field. It's called "Ultra Buster"

Z-Moves no longer require items, just max Friendship and Affection. Instead of designating a Z-Move and Crystal before battle, you can wing it and decide which mon will use it's move and when

Also Z-moves bypass immunities now. If a Z-move is used on a pokemon that would be immune to it, it now does 25% damage

Introduce hybrid type moves. If your mon has one of the types it gets a 50% STAB, if it matches both it gets 100% STAB. If a mon is weak to one type and resistant to another type it counts as type neutral . (or if 4x weak to one type and 1/2 resistant to the other, it counts as 2x weak, etc). For example:

Steam (Fire/Water)
Evil (Ghost/Dark)
Slush (Ice/Water)
Mud (Ground/Water)
Magma (Rock/Fire)
Plasma (Fire/Electric)

And so on. Many moves are retroactively changed as appropriate.

trick room doesn't change the speed stat. It would be like how "gyro ball" and "electro ball" work now.

And if you REALLY want to break the meta, add a reverse taunt. Can't use attack moves, only status moves.

Wasn't the speed check only for OHKO moves? Now, speed-based crits on the other hand were definitely a thing and were super cool in context of the RBY mechanics.

Mega/Primal Legendaries for lore purposes are OK.

That said, we really need that Primal Regigigas, get rid of Slow Start, because lots of Legendary Pokemon have the stats but not the ability.
