>>31211526Here's my point. There were two possibilities here.
1: He actually got C&D'd. In this instance he had to
>Advertise like a retard>Get C&D'd>Not fix bugs>Leak the game on 4chan2: He just pretended to get C&D'd for "the press". In this case he had to
>Advertise like a retard>Come up with this shitty underhanded marketing scheme for his free game that doesn't gain him anything from making more popular (why?)>Look up who represents Nintendo legally>Get their logo, and do some research on legal terms so it all looks legit>Draft this letter, make it all sound legitimate and real>Post the fake C&D>Make a big deal about it, delay it, fool everyone in your inner circle and who worked on the game into thinking the C&D was real as well (unless it's a huge conspiracy all 40 people are in on?)>Remove your own name from the credits, completely defeating any purpose this scheme may have had>Act legitimately salty on social media and in the credits>Leak the game on 4chanIt's clear that your supposed scenario where the C&D isn't real requires a LOT more assumptions, and required the dev to do a lot more work for questionable, if any, gain.
That doesn't mean it MUST be false. You could be right, maybe it was all an elaborate ruse to drum up press. But if we use Occam's Razor as a guide, then from a probabilistic perspective, it's probably not true and he most likely really did get C&D'd.
In fact, because he had nothing to gain from the whole C&D debacle (since removing his name and branding the project illegal basically makes it impossible for him to reference it later, or get donations for it), I'd say it's extremely unlikely he made it all up. I'd like to see if you have any evidence in favor of the C&D being fake, besides a typo which could have been made by anyone, if it exists.
