i am usually at the bottom of the ladder, but thats just because i like to make weird teams and try to win with those. I can win if I use pokeaims teams tho. I especially like his alolan persian z parting shot set.

You'll find that skilled players oscillate between 1650s and 1850s quite easily.

The ladder is a horrible measure of skill because it inherently rewards using safe and consistent teams like stall, which get completely dominated in a serious setting.

no 1200 is the cutoff to prove you aren't 12 years old and have reasonable team building skills. 1200 is where the ladder actually begins

1200 is where people who googled "Smogon" or "Best showdown team" are, usually with top tier teams but no idea how to use them
1300 is when people start having some semblance of an idea, still rocky

Objectively all you have to do is fuck around and do 100 or more random matches and you'll at 1500 or higher in a heartbeat. There is really no complicated play in this desu, even a literal caveman could reach 1700.

arguably its like, 15% luck based, but even then managing probabilities is kind of a skill in itself, just ask the dudes at poker tournaments. the face to face calling and bluffing and reading does make it a bit more interesting though, wonder if live VGC has a whole "tells" meta
