I don't have a CFW question but a question about getting sound has started.
So I believed I did everything right. I put the files on the root of my SD card. And when I go into 3ds sound and play the file that is in the SD dictonary and I get an error and the system restarts.

i used the windows buil-in format utility and had no problems. just make sure you format your new card using fat32 and its default device settings, afterwards just copy EVERYTHING from the old card to the new one

Assuming you have A9LH, just copy paste everything from the old SD card to the new one. Make sure the new one is FAT32 formatted first.

Using the guide it will walk you through Decrypt9,ctr transfer and then installing the A9LH(CFW).

FOLLOW IT TO THE LETTER,DON'T SKIP ANY STEPS!Except the one at the end for older firmwares 3.0-4.5.

If you used Decrypt9 right and made a NAND backup bricks should be no issue.Make sure to keep that backup somewhere.I'm pretty sure updates cannot affect CFW since updating to the newest version is part of finishing up A9LH installation.

Sort of a dumb question, but Google isn't helping:
I used to have ReiNand installed on my n3ds until I recently switched to having Luma;
I followed the guides for bringing my stuff from emunand into sysnand and everything works fine, but now my sd is kinda clogged from all the shit I had before.
I wanted to delete the things I don't need anymore, but I'm afraid I'll remove something essential and fuck up everything.
Is there a list of files that should always be on the sd after installing Luma and that I should not remove?

Ok so how do I install free games and get the Freeshop? I did everything already. Have the LUMA, FBI, CIAngel and stuff. I tried download Pokemon Moon from CIAngel which took hours but in the end it said "The CIA could not be installed" or something like that. Please help???? Just to make sure as I'm doing this, following the guide also creates a backup for the 3ds? I just want to make sure before I go in fully I have a way out.

Also does the guide say how to recover your 3ds if you accidentally brick if? If not does anyone know how to recover if you brick or mess up?

Files should not be renamed after downloading excep the otherapp payload fire changed to otherapp.bin .What i msayig nis there should not be any .xsnes like stuff.

Okay look. Yes there will be a parts of the process towards the end that allows you to backup and help recover however those are from future brick. I dont believe there is a way to recover if you mess up anywhere during the guide. However dont worry. Bricks are rare, and only happen because of incompetence. Bricking will only be possible while youre on the 2.1.0 part of the guide

I personally updated up to 11.0 awhile ago after failing to install any homebrew the old way without any soundhax,slowhax or fasthax.And im to cheap to pay for a hardmod or look for a 2nd cfw 3ds.

Oh that? If you mess up during the beginning of the process you can usually go back a step or two to fix the issue. If you want to call it quits halfway through then yeah, just clear all the hack files on your SD card and youre back to normal. HOWEVER after you get through the 2.1.0 CTR transfer, there is no return until you complete the hack. Just dont mess up senpai. Dont be that idiot that forgot step 1 and didnt make a file9 folder in the root of their SD card

Hourglass9 is a program downloaded at the end of the hack along with luma. Basically you turn on your 3ds while holding down a certain button and you have access to hourglass which can back up your NAND and save your DS from a brick. That is only at the end and protects from FUTURE bricks. Oh and you should save copies of your NAND to your computer for safe keeping when it comes to that step.

Clearing the whole thing? I wouldnt recommend it just because Im not quite sure if you wouldnt want to keep sounhax(which is very safe)at least. Just delete the files you downloaded for any of the steps after Soundhax and you should be golden. There are ways out and ways to fix this. Believe me, all this info looks intimidating but once you go through the process it is much simpler than what it looks like

Oh thats easy. Sometimes you have to load it a few times for it to work. Put a game cartridge in your 3ds before you launch safehax, that has been the fix for many people. Dont get spooked by black screens, they happen from time to time

Go to “SysNAND Options”, then “CTRNAND Transfer”, then “Auto CTRNAND Transfer”
Select the 2.1.0 ctrtransfer image when prompted by pressing (A)
If you do not already have a NAND backup, backup SysNAND to NANDmin.bin when prompted by pressing (A)

The NAND backup happens much sooner but your right about having to actually get to Hourglass9 to use it.I think.

Why is that? Isn't just installing the FBI directly through Homebrew better? Unless you;re trying to hide from Nintendo or something it seems useless.

Though iirc FBI hasn't been updated to work with Fasthax + 11.2 yet, so I guess injection into the H&S app is the only way to install FBI at the moment.

It's telling me to select "hs.app" to inject now but all i have available is the option to select what i had to inject a few steps prior ("FBI_v2.4_N3DS_USA_injectable.app). I can't select anything else via the arrow keys.

Everything was going perfect until i got to this step. I think i'm misunderstanding. Any ideas?

Yeah that's what i meant by not being able to select anything. As far as I can see that's the only "selectable/changeable" thing in >SysNAND Backup/Restore > Health&Safety Inject. I do the little <left> <up> <right> thing and then it waits for me to select something to inject but all i can get is the FBI_injector.app, no "hs.app" if i'm understanding this correctly.

Did you do Section V: Injecting FBI Step 2?

In any case if you over-write it without creating a dump to restore it, you can't get it back but it's not a big deal. You just have to deal with your H&S app not working as intended.

After installing a9lh, when trying to access pokemon bank I get error code 006-1608. Nintendo's site says it's unable to find that error code. Any help? Tried to repair but got 007-6106 which just says unable to access eshop.

I just ran into this same exact issue. Ran tiksweep which didn't do this.

I ended up just downloading and installing PokeBank and the update via freeshop instead and it worked.

Yea, I've tried that. I figued being able to load Luma would mean it did install, but I can't seem to launch it. I made sure to hold select before turning it on, and nothing.

So assuming i get myself a bigger SD, and it's not fat32, can i reformat it, or do i need to get one with the proper format from the start?
Also assuming i am doing this before hacking, what do i need to move? If i move everything it should not affect the games i have installed, right?

You can format it. Google how to format from exfat to fat32 and you can use cards larger than 32gb.

Yes you can reformat it but move everything important out before you do since this delete everything inside the sd. You don't need to move anything you already have just make a note of what you currently have since you will end up with exta stuff you can delete after following the guide.

Try pressing select on the black screen and wait 10 seconds. If it doesn't auto turn off, turn it off and then try holding select when Turing on the 3ds. Something similar happened to my n3ds where the bottom screen was glitched and the top part showed the Internet browser. I pressed select, nothing happened, turned it off and tried loading luma and somehow I was able to continue the guide normally.

Yes. If you don't want to install cfw, don't update immediately when 11.3 hits. Wait for hax to update to 11.3, and download/install updated hax before you update to 11.3.
