Gonna say it now, Gen 7 had a different approach to typing. Everything was less literal- Decidueye being ghost, Lurantis being pure grass, there's decisions that just wouldn't have been made in earlier generations. For a lot of these I wouldn't say "pokemon logic is weird" so much as "pokemon logic has shifted"

That's the thing. Sudowoodo is pretty blatant about its "Not actually a tree but a rock" schtick.

To see people making fun of it would be like seeing people make fun about how stick bugs are being classified as bugs even if they look like plants. It's called camouflage.

Lurantis is actually more literal as a pure grass type because it's a plant mimicking a bug, not an actual bug. If it was Bug/Grass that would be less literal because it just looks like a bug.

But anon, 4x bug weaknesses have been around since the very beginning. Even bulbasaur had one because gen 1's type chart was wonky and had Bug and Poison weak to each other.
