Confession thread:

I use a sub-optimal team online so I have an excuse when I lose.
The first pokemon game I owned legitimately was Y.
5/6 of my favorites are Ashmons.
I have cheated at least once in all of my Nuzlockes but pretend I didn't.
I vehemently shit on pokefuckers but have fapped to completion to Tsareena.

In 1999 I convinced some non-English-speaking kid younger than myself to sell me his copy of Red for 5$. (I was 6 or 7 at the time, my insane Baptist Christian mom wouldn't let me play pokemon because "Pokemon stands for Pocket monsters and monsters are from the devil".)

When Ruby and Sapphire came out, I convinced my younger sister to trade me her torchic for a lvl 35 Corolla, since that was her favorite pokemon as a result of the anime. I didn't feel one bit of guilt at the time as she struggled through the first two or three gyms with it almost never following her commands. Feel a bit bad about it now, though.

I gave up playing pokemon after oras but then pokemon go brought me back into the series

There are a couple different types of teams: Bulky Offense, Hyper Offense, Stall, and Weather. Bulky Offense is about using Pokemon that can take hits and hit back, Hyper Offense is about setting up rocks and then sweeping with super powerful fast pokemon, Stall is about being an annoying no fun faggot and making your opponent forfeit or die of toxic and meme seeds, and weather is about using weather to your advantage.

I have never picked a Fire-Type starter in the 20 years of the franchise. I always trade for them on GTS/from friends and breed my own for completion sake.

I absolutely hate following pokemon. If it ever comes back I hope it's optional.

I use smogon copy/paste sets to beat my friends who play casually. They all think I'm some kind of legitimate pokemon master.

I was once part of a Pokemon roleplay and became the poison type gym leader. It was on another site with forums more conducive to the activity. I did this as a teen. It ended when we found out one of the people in the group was busted for soliciting one of the boys. The RP was non sexual. Just autistic and shitty writing.

I liked Sinnoh and Cynthia a lot. I know both can be divisive.

Gen 3 nearly made me quit the series. I simply could not get into it. Gen 4 make me love it again. Replaying the games now, especially Emerald, I dont dislike gen 3 as much but it still hard for me to get into those games.

I hated using non-damaging moves on my movesets until I realized how valuable some could be.

I think z moves and mega evolutions are both fine additions to the series.

I hope we get more cross gen evolutions at some point. Or, at least new branches off old lines.

SM is a masterpiece, I feel I can safely say, a milestone in the Pokemon Anime history. Much like OS, SM brings new light and brilliance to something we didn't know could exist. It brings pure comfyness and comedy and an excellent array of characters to keep you hooked.

What's so good about it you ask? Why's this anime good enough to be deemed a milestone. It's simple. Ash's personality. His character posses such a strong charisma that you can't help but feel attracted and entertained by him. Lana, Mallow and Lillie along side him complete an incredibly well written group.

Enough rambling, the story is awesome. Don't worry about the ratings though, that makes the anime more interesting.

The Animation is top notch. There's one episode where a particular character is walking and the legs move perfectly. Beautiful fight scenes (though these are short and infrequent) too.

The sound/music is pretty decent, with the opening and ending pretty catchy. Nothing amazing though.

I only gave the characters a 9/10 because there still isn't enough information given about everyone to really get to know the character.

10/10 for enjoyment, without a doubt.

If you haven't picked this series up, do it now. It's one of those "must sees" and you will not regret it.

I'm really sick of the "Necrozma is a misassembled dragon" theory, and theories similar to that. I'm not sure why but I get way more asshurt than I should whenever someone brings it up. Hell, I'd actually find it pretty cool if he was some kind of secret psychic dragon, and there's nothing to disprove the theory so what the fuck, me. I guess I'm just sick of it being posted in damn near every single Necrozma thread. The alchemy theory is kind of tiresome as well for the same reason.

I'm scared to learn and participate in competitive. Not only am I scared to lose, but I'm scared of people making fun of me for using shitty sets or pokemon or whatever. Basically I'm just scared to fail. I know it's stupid. Maybe when I'm done breeding I'll just swallow my pride, do some research, and just jump in.

i got into pokemon in gen 4 and very early in diamond i found a shiny starly but i killed it because i didn't know it was a special

I only learned how to ev train until gen 6

as a kid using my ingame team i managed to get 20 wins at the battle arcade,, the battle castle and the battle hall

But i never beat the battle tower, i only got to Palmer once and he destroyed me because his team absolutely countered mine, i still have the 3 pokemon i used back then, and actually my starter infernape has a good nature which explains why it managed to beat other hard challenges in later gens even without the best iv's, i really hope i don't see a "battle frontier project has started" sign or a battle tree if sinnoh gets remakes, it would ruin years of preparation for a rematch

i don't like hoenn at all i only played gen 3 to get the regis and send them to diamond for regigigas, while i still have my copy of leaf green y have no idea what happened to ruby, also i never played emerald

i never beat black 2 my save has 6 gym badges and i have no idea where to go

I have played a main series game from every generation except for gen 3 (remakes include newer mechanics and additional plot so not counting it as having played all gens for being a mostly different experience)
I still haven't finished BW2

I lived in Flipland, so when I was first introduced to the series it was RBY on a 28-in-1 cartridge and we cheesed through it on Articuno + starter. I was like 5 and it was 2003.

As third-world countries always go, if you're not super careful about sources then it's practically a guarantee that your game is a bootleg, which it was when I picked up the series again two years later when our parents taped a copy of Pokémon Emerald to the wall as a reward for good grades. So I guess I have Pokémon to thank for being an honor student and staying that way until university.

I never actually got the chance to buy my own games until White 2 (although I've still played all the gens), which is probably why I poured so much time into it and why it's probably my favorite gen, III being second, but that being said I never understood the need for pointless genwarring on /vp/ apart from the fact that it's fucking /vp/. Gen 5 had its flaws but I'll stick by them.

Also like OP I keep pretending I don't cheat in my Nuzlockes, it's fucking mental acrobatics at this point.

Ever since I saw the English name reveal of the Ruby and Sapphire starters in Nintendo Power, Mudkip has been my favorite Pokemon. I loved almost everything about Mudkip I could find as long as it was pure (no hentai or degenerate shit). The day I got my copy of Sapphire was one of the happiest days in my life because I could finally meet the cute Water Pokemon I fell in love with.

Fast forward to now and I have four Mudkip plushies that occupy my bed and a quickly growing Mudkip merch collection on a bookshelf. When I am depressed I cuddle one of the Mudkip, because my Mudkip plushies have smiling, happy expressions and just looking at their faces makes me feel better. I also breed Mudkips constantly in ORAS for a variety of competitive settings and sometimes I give them away on Wonder Trade so other people can experience the joy of happy, cute Mudkips. I also pay for Pixiv Premium so I can find godtier Japanese fan art of Mudkip and save it to my 1gb and counting folder of Mudkip art. My boyfriend tolerates, even encourages, my Mudkip collecting and will buy me new pieces for my collection. My immediate family knows about my love of Mudkip and will send me cute pictures sometimes, especially on my birthday. I also want to build the ideal tank setup for three axolotls because they remind me a lot of Mudkip and it is the closest thing I will ever have to having a real life Mudkip in my life.

I am normally quiet about this because of the "do you liek Mudkips?" meme that was a thing back in '07-'08 (or so my memory goes). I don't want to fug a Mudkip. I just want to cuddle one and be happy.

I too have cheated in Nuzlockes. I'm certain many others have too - I see shit on the Nuzlocke forums where people get almost entirely Gen 7 encounters (including both Mimikyu AND Komala plus more) and do it deathless and think "bullshit did you get that lucky with your encounters and not get crit when you don't need to". I very rarely cheat nowadays though.

These days, I wouldn't touch that shit at all, and I didn't like it much back then, but some of those fanfics man, that shit was hard to look away from when I was 14-15.

I grew up with Gen 1 and Gen 2 but the first Pokemon game I owned was Fire Red because my family wouldn't let me own game consoles nor video games until the end of 2004.

I don't think I've ever actually played through the entirety of Red/Green/Blue, but I have played through Yellow.

I never bought Heart Gold and Soul Silver because I was a poor student who had stopped caring about Pokemon at the time, even though Crystal is still one of my all-time favourites and so I technically wanted HG/SS.

I've started to wish for Lillie and/or Hikari to be real so that I could marry them.

I don't liek mudkipz.

I saw a flash-based doujin VN where Haruka fucks her dad and someone mentioned their girlfriend cosplay as her then they fucked. Ever since then, I've been desperate to have a girlfriend who would cosplay as Pokegirls for me so that I could fuck multiple different girls whilst only ever actually fucking the one I love.

Gen 4 is still my favourite generation.

I don't watch the anime because I fucking hate Ash so god damn much. I've never had so much hate for a fictional character before him. In fact the only episodes I remember fondly are a handful of the first season eps and any episode where he lost. I watch the Kalos League fight against Alain just to see him get taken down.

My favorite gen is 2 even with all the neat additions in 6 and 7

The only good Pokemon Leagues were 5 and 6. Each of the battle arenas were so fucking cool looking and reflected their type so well. I was so disappointed by the barely themed entries in ORAS and "it's just a different colored cave" in Alola.

I don't play competitively because people take the meta WAY too seriously and that's just not fun to me at all.

I think Pokemon should be about fun, friendship, and Pokémon and not about crunch the fucking numbers like an autistic accountant

I only got into pokemon because i made a shitty pokemon meme in middle school, and made 3 friends as apposed to the 0 I had before it.

Gen 5 is unironically my favorite gen but I can't finish bw2 for the life of me. It's boring as hell and I keep putting it down once I get to Castelia City.

XY are worst games for a lot of reasons but I hate it specifically for it's disappointing OST.

The first legit pokemon game i bought was Platinum, everything before i either skipped because of being poor or emulated/used a bootleg cart/bought a secondhand one
The game i started from was Sapphire, and since it was a bootleg it losed saves once in a while and berries growing/saturday sale was never out
I never played original genwun games, only remakes, and not even going to
I skipped HGSS and the entirety of gen 5 and only came back after i bought 3DS to play monhun and realised pokemon games were released a year ago so i had to try these. I did play gen 5 later and it was as terrible as i thought
I cannot feel remotely assed playing with actual people or battle tower facilities because i think that default battle format is fucking boring and it offers nothing to entertain me. Also a big part of my livingdex are clones since i cannot feel assed spending a week more to level everything legit
This board made me fap to fictional animals and i'm enjoying it

I think gen 2 is the worst gen overall. I only like gen 6 slightly more because of good designs and the fact that I love megas. I never actually got past about the 4th gym in silver as a kid, so my opinion isn't really even valid.
I'm super autistic about not repeating types anywhere through my teams, even though I know it doesn't even matter most of the time.
I skipped gen 5 cuz it wasn't cool to play pokemon when it came out. I emulated white and I genuinely thought it was as good as emerald.
I can't stand Uranium and Prism (to a certain extent). I'm kinda glad they got taken down so I don't have to act like I enjoyed them.

I hate smogon. Mostly because I got my amatuer competitive team wrecked by one of my friends who used smogon and had an Uber team. I did not know about smogon at the time and just made up my own strategies, which worked against the other kids at my middle and high school, up until that asshole destroyed me 6-0. I still feel bitter.
First game I ever played was Pearl. I enjoyed it, and still enjoy it. I went back and played them all too. I did not like any gen 1 2 or 3 games, sorry. I just couldn't get into them. 4 I loved, probably mostly from nostalgia. B/W wasnt my favorite since I was only stuck with new Pokemon until post game. I loved B2/W2, my galvantula, Haxorus, braviary, and lucario were involved in breeding the perfect IV copies that I would use in Y and OR. I wanted to find a way to breed them into my line, that way I could say they were related to my older mons and that way I'd have a better connection with them. I eventually did this with my forst pokemon, empoleon, too.

Soon enough, people from both ends started to mock me, yet my autistic self, rather than delete the threads, applied damage control. This damage control was all done under the name of chandulure.

Eventually, someone posted a piece of pokeporn (idk what the first was, but I believe it may have been a picture of anthro slyveon), and soon, both threads became spammed with rule 34 of both franchises, all while I continued to get berated at.

Finally, both threads got removed, or maybe even just pruned. Many people got banned, many others got off free. I'm not sure what happened to me; probably was temp banned.

I find competitive games to be a fucking retarded concept. Sure, it's a nice hobby but I never understood the mentality behind it. This mentality of, "become a pro" seems stupid. Not only do you have to spend a lot of time playing, but you also have to gain skills which are very hard to gain. And even if you win and become the Pokémon world champion chances are you're almost definetely a depressed virgin who spends too much time playing games, which both drains you mentally, physically, and sometimes even emotionally. I am all of these things but that's beyond the point.

Most do it for fun, but I just can't find any fun in it.

Shit, that reminds me. My other bit of autism is that I've always tried to mimic how an NPC would have a Pokémon team, which meant if I was playing as a boy then all my mons would follow the gender ratio and be male (so female only if it's >=75% skewed), and I'd only use Poké Balls. I'm surprised it took them until Gen 7 to actually have NPCs use something that's not reg Poké Balls but I've invested too much in using only them to quit now.

The thing about gender ratios has only applied once because I've only ever had one mon that had a forced ratio (Florges).

I hate injecting and competitive in general. When I'm bored I come to those threads or to competitive chat rooms and try to shit them up as much as possible before getting banned.

VGC is the worst thing that happened to the series lately. If main adventure ever makes double battles the primairy battle format I'll skip the games and just wait for the ROMhacks.

Speaking of ROMhacks, most of them are far better than the official games. Prism was excellent, and so was Rutile Ruby/Star Sapphire.

Kris is legitmately my favorite pokegirl ever since crystal first came out. I like her design and the blue hair is a nice match to the hair style they gave her. I don't like lyra too much because i'm bitter that they didn't remake kris like they did with ethan/gold. I don't understand why /vp/ hates kris so much either

I think gen 5 was one of the better gens of pokemon. 2, 3, and 5 are all my favorites

I still have no idea how the hell EV training works, even after looking up how-to videos and forums. I still just don't get it, so i gave up on it

I think competitive playing sucks because only a few certain pokemon are considered good enough. So much for, "that is only the selfish perception of people, truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites" huh?

I'm generally not against change. I try to focus on enjoyable things in each new generation/games, and not waste my energy in complaining about small stuff. I beat Sun yesterday, nice game btw, but gfd has it also cemented my one true dislike in newer generations. The point: I miss those rivals who started as kind of a dicks, a bullies, who I did not have to suffer all that often in the end. Having flock of these... pseudo-rival/buddy characters running behind me, rushing to explain some stupid shit at every turn just kills my mood. I think GF hit the bottom with Lillie. Story of 7th gen games was way too much focused on her effin family issues, and to me at least that was painfully boring. I tried to give her chance, just like I did with other annoying buddy characters, but I have never wanted to strange any of them as strongly as I want to strangle Lillie... I get that Hau was our rival, not her, but his arc was flat as fuck, probably because game wasted so much effort to... dunno, get us have some moe feels about the bag carrying cunt??? ...I guess wishing there was more bullies (and less hand-holdind, that was another minor thing that got on my nerves at the beginning of game) in video game targeted for children is not all that cool, but whatever.
