Remember. After the remake of Diamond and Pearl, the next will be Black and White, and that means we will have this in 3D.

Musicals will probably be scrapped for contests because they can just rehash those from ORAS, this would be too much effort to do with 3D models for them

Pokestar Studios in 3D will be awesome though

i doubt they'd even try Musicals with models instead of sprites seeing as they weren't well liked by fans in the first place.
