You've also skipped several areas in Alola solely because they aren't denoted on the map as "Route X" even though none of Sevii's routes are numbered. There are 17 numbered routes, and on top of those, you have Hau'oli City Outskirts, Melemele Sea, Kala'e Bay, Hano Beach, Secluded Shore, Exeggutor Island, Poni Wilds, Poni Breaker Coast, Poni Grove, Poni Plains, Poni Coast (this is a different area from the breaker coast), and Poni Gauntlet.
That list of Poni locations also didn't include Ancient Poni Path where the cave system is, on account of that being a cave/dungeon despite the path right before it being functionally a route. That's 29 actual routes. I'll be generous and say it's 28 because Hau'Oli City Outskirts does technically fall under the Route 1 monicker. Even if you want to be really pedantic about this, those areas are undeniably traversable areas that contribute to Alola's objective size. It isn't like this is true for every region either, all of the route and route-like areas in Hoenn are numbered. Only towns, dungeons and caves aren't labeled as routes, so you aren't going to see that number suddenly balloon when you take a closer look. Consider adding caves/dungeons to your image, because that's where you're really going to see Alola fall very short, and those account for a hell of a lot more substantial content than number of towns.
