But I never understood the game-lore for trade evos. It's literally just something gf put in to force you to trade with other people and they've stuck with it for no reason.

The trading machine is meant to transport them across distance and "load" that Pokemon into your ball (or just transfer both things), but it does cross some mons DNA such as MachampxGolem line or AccelgorxEscavalier lines, and also Bill fuses with a Pokemon when experimenting with the machine in Red/Blue. I think it'd be fine if they kept the theme consistent.

It's teleportation-induced mutation. Accelgor and Escavalier's dex entries mention pokemon being exposed to unusual radio waves when being traded. Those radio waves are probably what triggers the mutation.

Trade evos seriously need to die. The fact that this entire concept was based off of a terrible idea (of course I'm going to treasure my new Alakazam named "Dildofag" that I didn't raise, thanks!) from Gen 1 and are STILL GOING ON is mindboggling. Couple that with the fact that there's almost no way to get your Pokemon back over WiFi unless you're in /wfg/

I do have friends I can trade with, but it's annoying as fuck to hit them up and ask them to pull out their DS randomly just for a trade evo and ultimately not worth bothering when I could ultimately just inject the fucking thing at a low level.

Had the same thing happen to me anon. My dragonite was paralyzed when it spawned in. Managed to one shot the callong poliwag finally, had 1 turn left, no move that wouldn't one shot the damn toad. After like 2 hours of this shit and eating leppa berries like a vegan for thunderbolt. AllMyNope.targa, made the choice to masterball that fucker. Proceeded to WTS him for all of the other item evolvers I'm missing. He's somewhere in the world being a smug little shit in someone's pc now. No regrets.

Aside from the exp training being literal garbage its one of the best features in ages.
We just need a game with Poketech, Dexnav, Pelago, Horde battles, Battle frontier, and the PSS online system and it would be the perfect game.
