Well you have two choices

1. Don't update and learn how to use the homebrew tool ctr-httpwn

2. Follow the http://3ds.guide to install CFW on your console. We're in the renaissance of 3DS hacking, since a critical exploit was found recently and ANY console can be hacked as of today. This is a golden oportunity.

With CFW usually you don't have to worry about new firmware updates. You can do them normally.

Yes :)

Yes :) with every new generation Game Freak has actually made hacking easier, since more data are stored individually and not being correlated to each other. Genning/editing legally in Gen III or IV was more complicated.

Cool. I remember in Gen IV and maybe V that fucking everything was tied to PID or whatever in some way and to make Genned stuff look perfectly legit you had to search for a legit looking PID.

One more question, what save backup tool should I use? Keep hearing people using JK Save Manager but that ORAS has problems with it, meanwhile I used JK 3DS Tool all the time with ORAS and was backing up and restoring saves fine all the time. It still work fine with SM?

JKSM is the way to go. It had problems with ORAS since 11.x firmware version introduced PASLR. But that was fixed recently. Update the payloads you use to enter homebrew launcher.

My modded 2DS is still in 9.2, since save backups are all I use it for while I keep my main system clean. Don't have AL9H either since all I use Luma for is TWLTool. Do I need to change anything for messing with SM or can I keep my setup where all my modded system does is the backups and restores while my clean system actually plays the game?

Nature too? I pinned a thread a while back talking about something with soundhax, will pk hex work with that? Or is soundhax just the way to enter the homebrew menu? Also, does any of these hacks need the l and r buttons? My old 3ds that I plan on hacking has issues with them.

You can modify almost everything in a Pokémon. And yes, soundhax will let you enter the homebrew menu in order to extract your save file from the game using an app like JKSM or svdt. Works with physical and digital copies.

R button can be used for specific behaviors, but is not very common.

Link to latest version of PKHex? Also, there's a thing called Phbank or something like that so I can transfer over all my old Pokemon early, right? How do I use that? I installed Homebrew and Decrypt9, but haven't gotten to doing the rest of the guide for things like FBI yet.
