>>31264628I never really understood the inclusion of fairy type besides being a niche type to put an extra counter on dark, fighting, and dragon types. It feels more like a "secondary" typing, like dragon or flying or ground, than it does as a "primary" typing, like an elemental type would. I was okay with dragon cause "dragon" attacks make enough sense and there's plenty of existing dragon Pokemon to work with, but fairy was kinda like "Wait, really? Okay, I guess so...". I guess "fairy" attacks could be thought of as a mythical magic sort of attack, which would explain their advantage over dragons and darkness.
S/M definitely helped to expand the niche typing, but it still feels like a less important type compared to others, which is why I called it a "secondary" typing. Still, 18 is a good number for types for 800+ Pokemon, I don't think we need any more to work with.
