>>31272974I think with transparency and efficient/interesting teaching mechanics, there's no need to explain explicit abilites/moves in such detail:
- add additional information to moves in the form of icons that indicate if the move makes contact, is a punching or biting move etc
- make the respective descriptions for those abilities as clear as possible (fluffy = affects contact moves, Fur Coat = affects physical damage).
- have places/NPCs/dialog in-game that emphasizes on the importance to differentiate between physical/special and what contact moves are etc.
If that's all done, and assuming people use their brain just to a certain extent, it's not so convoluted anymore.
The Fur Coat/Fluffy confusion stems from unclear wording and the lack of proper introduction to unique features of attacking moves.
