>>31302075Yeah, they were pretty careful about how they depicted power levels in XYZ. Megas are crazy powercreep shit. I'll always point to how they handled Pikachu, they were smart about it.
When Pikachu went against Diantha's Gardevoir, it was typical Ash vs E4/Champion stuff- he was totally outclassed.
Pikachu could beat Mega Lucario but he had to fight tooth and nail to do it.
Pikachu could only be downed by his rival's aces (Sceptile/Charizard), but both of them were non-Mega'd when they did it.
I don't think it'd be a stretch to say that Infernape could handle himself okay against Sceptile or Charizard, but if Charizard Mega'd it'd be instant gg. I think he'd hold off okay against Mega Sceptile since it had almost nothing but grass moves, I'd even argue he'd have a chance of winning. Remember Mega Sceptile vs Ash Greninja was only a more equal match since Shota planned around Ash's team and he had type advantage.
I think the only wrench that gets thrown in it all is how Alain's Charizard beat an E4's Houndoom. If it was just regular Houndoom I'd get it, but Mega Houndoom? I guess you could argue Malva was just toying with Alain the same way Diantha was just testing Greninja's strength.
