Or is the Prof. and Hala just likes to keep him in the dark so HE can become Kahuna, since his dad won't take the mantle himself.

Ironically, his dad is the probably the first one who isn't actually in the picture, though I assume the MC from X/Y was just from a straight up single mom household, in which her mom got knocked up back in her Circuit days and just had the kid and ended her career.

I think I remember them saying that he ran off to Kanto because they didn't want to be a Kahuna and Hala went on a rampage because of it. My guess is then a fighting specialist from Kanto. That leaves either Bruno, Karate King, or a new character. My vote goes to Bruno or a new character.
