Traditional art encourages perfectionism, so some people consider it to be better for training your craft.
I'm not an expert on it so take my opinion with a grain.... or maybe a ladle of salt.
Go with what works and push yourself to make the best work you can in that medium. Experimentation is vital, sure, and every aspiring artist should dabble in mediums they aren't familiar with, but nobody's asking you to be an expert at every medium.
Again, I'm not very skilled so I'm sure someone could BTFO me in one reply.
