To be fair ORAS are better than both XY and Sun/Moon, but that's only because the original Ruby/Sapphire were at least above average. Diamond/Pearl on the other hand sucked though, so unless they implement features from Platinum, it's hard to imagine D/P remakes will be good, especially considering Game Freak has lost their touch.

Also lowers the foe's evasion. So if defog is on a mon like say Aerodactyl, the foe may be forced to switch to avoid a potential guaranteed Stone Edge. Shitty example but I'm not sure which mons can learn defog and low accuracy moves and would benefit from it in a way that could scare somebody into switching

Evasion isn't banned because it has no counters, it's banned because it favors luck over skill exclusively. Entry hazards allow certain archetypes to actually work and the distribution of defog and rapid spin among competitively viable pokemon is very good. You could also just build a team that doesn't have problems with entry hazards in the first place.

I agree that the baton pass ban is fucking stupid though.

Because you don't counter just evasion, you need to counter the Pokemon and evasion. And the grand majority of anti-evasion moves are complete fucking shit to the point where they cripple you when you use them.
