I haven't quite beaten the game yet, but I'm pretty sure the only way I'll be able to go beyond the first 4-5 fights is if I play at the computer and open up a tab for each damn 'mon the computer uses.

I'm using a Assault Vest Golisopod and a Lum Berry Multiscale Dragonite w/Roost and Dragon Dance for Singles. However, I'm having a hard time deciding between Tapu Fini or Toxapex. I noticed that the Pokemon I have the most problem with any fast Pokemon with rock and ice type moves. Which would be better?

No mercy. You made a mistake in the Battle Tree and you lost. You should be scouting movesets and doing damage calcs, instead you use a Water attack on a pokemon whose main niche is Water immunity.

Now if you play perfectly and lose a match you would have otherwise won because of hax, that can'tn helped and you're entitled to a little venting. I'm sure most everyone here has gotten haxxed out of a streak. But don't come here with your hand held out when you fucked up. Think deeply on you can do personally to become a stronger trainer.

Stallbreaking and support, so Taunt and the auto Misty Terrain. I think it's the kind of pokemon you lead with, because just sending it out first already gives your team the Terrain advantage. Pick one pokemon that switches into Fini's counters and then one blanket hard hitter or sweeper, like a Mega or UB.

It's their for the evasion boosters and annoying status users basically.

Is Mega-Kangaskhan a good mon for Battle Tree? I heard she was ridiculously OP in XY, but with the nerf to Parental Bond, not to mention the fact that key moves like Seismic Toss, Power-up Punch, and Crush Claw won't be available until the PokeBank open up, I'm not sure how to build her right now.

Is Kangaskhan just better off on the bench until she gets more moves?

All attack, all speed, Life Orb + Swords Dance + whatever Atk moves your heart desires.

Disguise basically gives Mimikyu one of the safest setup turns in the game, and his speed means you're going to be sweeping almost every team. I run Shadow Claw, Play Rough, and Grass Hammer, which pretty much gives me 100% coverage, and after Swords Dance you don't even need SE hits to 1HKO.

He has a lot of trouble with physical walls, though. Ferrothorn comes to mind as a particularly awful matchup, and anything that messes with its speed like Trick Room or Paralysis can screw it over. Often if I'm up against a Paralyzer I'll switch out Mimkyu just so that I can have him available for later as a Switch-In/Revenge sweeper.

My current team is Mimikyu, Aegislash, Toxapex, and I got to Floor 30 with them last night.

You hopefully now have a full health Z-conversion Pory-Z.
If M-Aero faints, all the better. Send in Koko and you now have a boosted Pory-Z under Elec-terrain.

Ooh, I just realized another option is Facade. Not as good for sweeping, but since Mimikyu is particularly vulnerable to status effects, it'd be a nice counter to opponents who want to open up with Toxic/Thunder Wave/Will-o-Wisp.

But if your other mons already have Grass, Dark and Psychic coverage, it's probably not neccessary.
Also I found Lum Berry on Mimikyu as a better option, life orb is kind of unnecessary after a swords dance.

That's true, I just like to use it as extra insurance vs bulky sweepers, especially the ones I can't SE.

I think mastering Mimikyu means understanding exactly how much damage potential you have at any given moment. Sometimes you can just swat with an unbuffed Shadow Claw, sometimes you really need that Swords Dance turn, sometimes you need to figure out if the 20 extra BP from Play Rough is worth the chance at missing (90% Accuracy my fucking ass...).

Life Orb smooths a lot of those calculations out, but I can see how Lum Berry is a better option if you have enough experience.

Trust me, you want inner focus on oranguru. One good fake out can end your streak like it's nothing. Now, toxapex isn't great for trick room because trick room should be inherently more offensive than defensive.
I use drampa and it's great but I can't imagine roost being very useful. You can get double targeted and die anyway and if you're roosting then that's another turn of trick room gone
If you also want priority then don't forget that scizor's base speed is only 65 and it works well in trick room. Your fake out users are hariyama which is quite good, scrafty, and incineroar.

As the other poster said, you probably want Inner Focus Oranguru for Trick Room setter. Telepathy is better for Instruct EQ shenanigans with ScarfChomp and the like. You could also use Tsareena/Bruxish to block Fake Out, but their speed tiers are too awkward for Trick Room use; Lele is too much of a liability, as well.

If you want something bulky/supportive, I recommend Comfey over Toxapex. Comfey has great Synergy with Drampa, having a priority heal to constantly allow Drampa to dip in and out of Berserk procs. It can Drain Kiss to sustain itself, and isn't hindered too much by Trick Room due to Triage. It also covers Drampas Fighting/Dragon weakness pretty well.

Although, I tend to find lack of a Mega/Z Crystal on teams to be taxing in later fight. It's always nice to have a giant nuke to completely take out a huge threat. It's hard for the current Mega selection to work well in Trick Room, but I've been thinking about trying a Z-Draco Meteor Drampa for some time. I find Drampas STAB options to be horrendous together, since they cover next to nothing (And it ignores his absolutely crazy coverage options), but a huge Meteor that doesn't lower SPA might be the solution.

Megagross and lele as lead because it only takes a brain stem and battle tree above like 50 is bullshit

while less glamorous, my other two have been very very clutch

make sure you do a special aegislash so you aren't dominated by burn or shit with flame body because that's real

You'd probably have to drop Mimikyu for Tapu Fini. MMence/Fini/Aegis is pretty hard to break through, covering every weakness except Electric and Ghost, but each providing immunities. Also, Fini can block status effects for both, as well as Taunting anything that tries to be annoying.

Actually, disregard this; I just remembered Misty Terrain doesn't help MMence. However, Fini can still Taunt anything that tries to Will-o-Wisp. Or I guess time a Roost when you expect a status effect, but that seems pretty impractical. Still, Fini is a good, bulky option to pair with the two of them, since neither Mence nor Aegislash really have status moves in their repertoire.

I'd say it's worth it, if you can. Fini is easier to work with than the other Tapus, and its Terrain is the least likely to fuck yourself over. Koko could work alright, too, in terms of coverage/power, but I notice that bringing Koko tends to lure out trainers with Jolteon/Raikou/etc. While not a huge threat on their own, they become hard to deal with when Elec terrain is up and there's no ground type/A-Marowak to absorb those bolts. Fini does seem to attract anything other than those oddball Energy Ball/Grass Knot user.

took me two tries to reach 50. After the first failure (@46) I decided to switch leads making hydreigon lead instead of marowak and switched earthquake to crunch on gyarados. crunch got better results.Type wise this team has some good synergy. Hydreigon's purpose is to nuke someone with devastating drake turn one and hopefully take them out. higher up in the ladder (40+) some opposing mons are bulky enough to tank a drake so choose wisely on which mon to nuke. If he's threatened just switch to marowak since he covers almost all of hydreigon's weaknesses (primarina covers the dragon), or switch into marowak when you know the opponent is going to throw an electric attack out and get a d.dance with gyarados. being able to switch types with gyarados is very good but you have to know when it's appropriate when to mega evolve and not. there were plenty of times where I didnt mega evolve and you dont always need to because regular gyarados still hits pretty hard. Decided to test out the primarina set that's been going around and its very good. You could probably take out psychic for ice beam though I dont think it matters. The marowak ev set up was taken straight from smogon, you could probably invest some speed evs into more bulk if you want.The only difficult encounter I really had was at @49 against an all fairy trainer that used gardevoir, mega mawile, mimikyu, and sylveon. Blue encounter had easy mons so I 4-0'd him.

forgot to mention that this lead excels in shutting down trick rooom set ups since almost all of the users in the tree are weak to dark. Just double team that pokemon so they dont get it off. one time I wasnt able to so I protect stalled it out.

Just beat super doubles with Fightinium-Z Naive Phero, Specs Lele, Scarf Kartana and Sash Nihilego. Slapped Trick Room on Nihilego and never had any problems with Trick Room teams. Lele and Pheromosa kill most stuff that don't resist them, Nihilego perfectly covers Kartana and Pheromosa's weaknesses, and everyone being grounded makes the entire team immune to priority.

Not really, top dogs in 3v3 Singles are just inherently different than the viable pokemon in 6v6 Singles. Especially considering you're taking on the Tree, not a person, so you come across some of the most bizarre sets ever. Plus evasion isn't banned.

Mimikyu and Primarina aren't the best choices for a team of 6 but they can be very good lead pokemon on a team of 3 in the BY. Shit like Mega Mence, Megagross, Tapu Koko and Lele, and Porygon-Z are great in both formats.

Are you on Singles or Super Singles? You could alternatively try farming on Battle Royal, though it takes a while, I think it's a little better than the early 20 round Singles that give out a whopping 1 BP per win, though the amount you receive depends on how many you knock out I think.

Alternatively stick around and see if people post teams, usually ones involving Tapus or UBs work well. I posted a Ninetales/Gyarados/Aegislash one, but before I got Gyarados Mega Stone, I just stuck a Wacan Berry. I still do not have enough BP for any more than 3 Mega Stones, but I'm getting there.

I really wish I could post some Battle Videos on how I did it to help out, but the stupid update destroyed my videos and I do not think I can reproduce them. And yeah, they really did a disservice for making Singles introduce you to already competitive mons. Are there particular Pokemon you like? We could try to build a team around it. Everyone here seems to recommend Tapu Koko, but I have not caught mine yet to tell you how it works.

Quiet ensures you attack before most other Pokemon, which is what Aegislash wants. It wants to tank things in Shield form and not its Blade form. If you can you want a really low IV on Speed. I think mine has 2 Speed or something. It also means Sacred Sword is not weakened by a - Atk nature. You can just run Flash Cannon in that slot because it does a lot more damage, but I had to Sacred Sword for coverage and avoid random Mirror Coats from Magnezone and Vanilluxe (yes they do this). Shadow Sneak has priority to pick off weakened targets, and it is good. Before I had Weakness Policy (48 BP), which sometimes works, I had Spell Tag for + 20% Ghost damage, which was also very useful.

Yeah. It actually works both ways. You can try a Swords Dance set with Shadow Sneak/Sacred Sword/Iron Head with Spell Tag or some other boosting item, which was what I did in early XY for my ingame Aegislash, and it does work to some extent. Aegislash just has the equivalent Special attack however, so you can easily run mixed focusing on the special side. Its Shadow Ball hits obscenely hard, especially when boosted.

Ugh I realised it is impossible to breed Pursuit on Muk without Pokebank. Not like it does much for Battle Tree.

You can put a Focus Sash on Salazzle (there is a dancer trainer in Poni Island who gives it to you after you beat her) if you want to try the Nasty Plot + 3 attacks set, and I wager it won't be too bad. Problem is using both of these will compound a Ground weakness, which is easy to fix, but at the same time it means you rely on the Ground check too much.

I really think you would benefit from a Hydreigon in such a team. It is immune to Ground and Muk can check Fairy Pokemon quite well. I think it also destroys Psychic Pokemon too because it is not weak to Focus Blast. Hydreigon can also deal with Steel Pokemon with Fire attacks and U-turn out if there is trouble. If you are intent on Ghost Null it can round off the "Fighting" weakness, but it is kind of passive. But yeah, pairing Ghosts and Darks do well for you and with right playing I think you will reach up to 20. Trying to figure out sets for each.

Attacking Z movies have no secondary effect, regardless what move they "came from". Burn Up with Firium Z can also be used the other way- Burn Up quickly to rid yourself of weaknesses, then Firium Z allows you to still have a fire move in your moveset (as you can't use Burn Up if you're not a fire type, and Firium Z bypasses this).

It's still the best solution aside from mega camerupt since it can shake off fire moves while delivering STAB quakes. Even most of the good water types right now will fuck you over with a weak second typing, except for wishiwashi.

If you have to fit Celesteela and Shuckle in the same frame, Shuckle would have to be only approximately 14 pixels tall on a 400x240 pixels screen.
Either the tiny pokemon like Joltik and Shuckle are just a cluster of pixels if you zoom out, or you'd only be able to see part of the giant pokemon like P-Groudon and Celesteela if you zoom in.

Thanks for the detailed reply man. I've been using wisps/calm mind/dark pulse/recover sableye with SD Mimikyu and regen/recover Toxapex. I think I'd like to keep Toxapex, but might switch out Mimikyu for Bulu. Lum berry & disguise is really good in the tree too though, so maybe not.

M-Sableeye replaced Mimikyu for me as the "breaks the AI" Mon.

I like Mimikyu alot too, but the fact that you have to Sword Dance for Mimi to be worth it and the lack of coverage made me drop him. I'm guessing Mimikyu is best if it leads and I'm not using it that way.

Toxapex should work well enough in place of Muk, you'll do quite a bit of switching when you face a team that stands a chance.

Also Bulu is the Lynch pin of the team, he allows you to switch into Earthquake with Impunity and can even save a worn down M-Sableeye from certain death (if M-SableEye doesn't die it's almost impossible to lose).

Well the circumstances for it to attack and roost on the same turn would be strange.
It would have to be doubles and have mega salamence roost while you set up trick room with oranguru and instruct salamence the next turn while you select return/double edge. Now I believe roost fails if you're at full health so you have to take a hit the turn you roost for the first time or have something slower (faster in trick room) than oranguru hit salamence before its instructed roost.
If all of this happened I believe it would lose its STAB on that attack for that turn.

But it also helps out opposing fire types, it's harder to use to your advantage rather than a mutual benefit or detriment. Most people don't spam sleep, status, or priority (this will be used sometimes) against the tree. The tree does it to you so having the right terrain helps you more than them every time.

Either lead with Mimi or drop it for something that doesn't need to SD before being useful (a lot of the UBs have nearly double Mimikyu's attack as a base stat and are faster too).

Biggest problem with Blue is the M-Tyranitar and Rhydon combo, due to Sandstorm raising Special Defense.

And you'll also very likely run into Lapras if you're running M-Salamence.

Also if you don't have some way to deal with Aerodactyl Scarfslide memes, you could put yourself in a very bad situation.

Otherwise Blue and Red are typically quite easy - they're predictable, if you want you can even look their teams upon Serebii and you can get a good idea of what moves or items they'll have by process of elimination, and avoid getting fucked by coverage.

So just make sure you're not putting yourself in too awkward a starting position and you should be fine.

I ran a Garchomp, Tapu Lele and Scizor. I got shut down in regular singles once by Hypnosis Gengar but in Super Singles I only encountered ice and fairy pokemon mostly and Scizor would take care of that.

Will RNG screw me over for the next few weeks to offset my luck?

Should I feel bad for using Ultra Beasts to beat the first 20-streak modes? I've used a few non-ultra teams but I just get countered too much. Doesn't matter which team I use, it just seems like I can get countered by a team and it's over before I can really do anything.

I reached 15ish streak on singles a few times, but invetiably get owned. I used the ultra beasts and was able to do it first time. Feels kinda shitty though becuse they are so OP :/

This would be so much better if the singles/doubles fights were 6 mons. With 3 mons I feel like no matter what I choose, my team is always gonna have strong weaknesses against certain teams/mons and invetibly those fuckers show up.

Finally defeated Doubles after god knows how many tries. Sludge bomb gets a lot of stuff. If you want to risk it you can use hypnosis then hex. Hex by itself kills most ghost types. Destiny bond is very useful. Sometimes you can lead with a toxic spike setter to make better use of hex. Don't mega evolve if you're just planning on using destiny bond on the first opponent.

Knock Off on Muk for some hard hitting damage and to get rid of the opponent's item, especially all the Brightpowder mons, Brick Break for coverage and breaking screens and Shadow Sneak for priority. Poison Jab for a powerful STAB move with a 60% to poison thanks to his ability, not to mention a chance to poison with all its other moves.

With the Grassy Terrain up, Wood Hammer does huge damage but also big recoil which is where Horn Leech comes in on Bulu in addition to grass healing and leftovers healing. Megahorn and Superpower for coverage

I did the first 35 multi battles with Cyntha i'm going to do the others together with my brothers 3ds'
I used m-salamence, Tapu Koko, Primarina & lycanrock-n for doubles and I'm probably going to use the same team but i'd like to replace lycanrock for a good mega. Anyone has suggestions?

It's not a good Mega to use in the Battle Tree because you don't know what your opponent's team is until all 3 have been revealed.

You would typically wanna Calm Mind boost against a physical attacker that can't touch it.

Hmm....Some criticisms.

Both your leads are weak to ground attacks
3 of your pokemon are weak to fire
2 of them are weak to rocks
2 of them are weak to poison
2 of the are weak to steel
2 of them are weak to flying
Everything aside from ribombee is on the slow side

Basically you have quite a few weakness overlapping going on.

A little on the slow side, but definitely viable with Assault Vest. Actually has really good synergy with Megagross, which covers Conk's Flying, Psychic, and Fairy weaknesses. I don't think it has what it takes to make it to 50 though.
