These corporations do this shit because they know that even though they will get a ton of backlash, there are still millions of people who will pay for it anyways.
Unless a very large amount of people actually take a stand and don't buy it, Nintendo will suffer no consequence.
And when you consider that Nintendo's primary demographic is children who buy shit with their mommy's credit card, I highly doubt they will have a problem pulling this off.
By 2018 people won't even remember how mad they had been about having to pay for online, just like with PS4 players and Xbox players before them.
