I agree, though I think the textures need to be slightly more vibrant, Charizard is too dull an orange, for example.

I didn't know this was an unpopular opinion, everyone I've talked to outside of this board loves the 3d models. I like the 2d sprites for nostalgia reasons, but 3d models are much cooler imo

More dynamic animations would only drag the matches on like they did in Stadium. Besides, they'd only be cool the first couple of times anyway.

This. So many of them could be made better just by having them move a bit more while idle.
For example, just compare Stadium 2/Colosseum/Gale of Darkness Ursaring to XY/SM Ursaring and you can see how much of a difference it would make just to have it swinging its arms about.

There are only a few "bad washed out" mons, like Exeggutor. The majority of the washed out actually had wrong colored sprites, like Salamence until Gen V.
