I really dislike this "it's garbage" attitude, because if it's not a rom hack but RPGmaker or some shit, the amount of work needed to recreate pokemon is insane.
I've done some coding and pokemon is a mess of mechanics, it can take days to write a working script for a single move like Teleport.
Eventing that is the bulk of the work can take hundreds of man-hours, and you are now judging by art and graphic design which is the easiest, from what has to be done to get a game running.
It's such a shame that 95% of all games fail, what you see is some dumb fakemon with unimaginative concepts, what I see is some dude programming fucking stats and shit and testing and retesting for balancing issues for weeks.
