I assume everyone is familiar with the magikarp factory swapping method for shinies. So I'm wondering if you could do the same thing with different pokemon.

Basically, you can't swap the shiny karp for a genderless or fixed gender mon because of something about different rolls or something. So could you, if you were going for say a shiny minior, breed magnemites until you get a shiny then SR and swap in a minior? Please respond if you know or I will kill myself, Also feel free to post your own stupid fucking questions.
