1) Excessive retaliation against genwunners.

You couldn't go anywhere without hearing some normie Pokemon Go trend kid saying "THERE'S ONLY 151 POKEMON! THE NEW GAMES ARE SO BAD, DID YOU KNOW THERES A GARBAGE BAG AND ICE CREAM!?!?!" Actual Pokemon fans got so sick of it that they started hailing Gen 5 as the messiah and hating Gen 1 more than it actually deserved. Nowadays you can't say you didn't like Gen 5 on the internet without someone kneejerking "OH YEAH WELL MUK IS LITERALLY A PILE OF SLUDGE AND AND--"

2) B2/W2 ARE great games, although I don't think they're the single best in the franchise. People forgot how meh B/W1 were though.

BW2 is the best selling third version.

Also, Pokemon was suffering from stagnation at the time. We don't have third versions anymore for a reason - GF/Nintendo finally realized that being like Capcom just kills future sales.

Gen 5 will forever be known as the worst selling gen, as Gen 6 sold more and Gen 7 will sell more than Gen 6.

It'll be known as the low point in the series, in terms of sales (objectively) and quality (among most of the fanbase, not just /vp/)

/vp/ literally only "loves" it because everyone else hates it. it was the beginning of the end and set in motion the biggest problems that have extended into the following gens and lead the series to decline.

Pokemon would. Just compare how they handled the anime in its early days to how they handle it today. They used to have very Japanese-style humor that's deemed appropriate for kids over there, but they stopped doing that once they realized they had a franchise with worldwide appeal.

There's really nothing special about Cynthia at all. She's no more fleshed out than the other Champions, if not possibly less. The difference is that she's put in everything. She's the Rosalina/Lightning of the Pokemon series.
