It wasn't very good. Some of the route and town themes were decent but most of the routes were forgettable and only like 3 cities were of any interest. Didn't help that the pacing in most of the game was so bad you essentially B-lined it from gym 2 to Lysandre.

Skiddo allowed you to JUMP UP ON LEDGES but only in certain areas so it's not even that important

Pokeball factory, because now we know those actually exist

some real cool Pokemon (Emphasis on some; they can't all be winners)

The same with me, though near the end of BW and the start of BW2 is when I got to experience the features one needs friends for.

Gen 5 and Unova still stand as my favorite gen/region for that reason among others.

The biggest problem for Kalos based games was that they came after Gen 5. The story, the characters, everything was Gen 4 tier, so it was an obvious step back. What sealed the deal was that unlike Gen 4, which was saved by a third version, it got no third version to give it extra content like Battle Frontier and a bit more difficulty.

This whole post boils down to "NOT MEMORABLE". When I found Kalos to have much more character than Kanto or Johto. All the French locations used in the game were also easily identified by someone who has never been to France.

As for Unova's, remember the region is inspired by NYC. The desert is a nod to Ground Zero in the original games, and in the sequels, you see rebuilding efforts taking place.
