Will we ever get side-games like Colosseum again?

Connecting your main series save file, battling, earning goodies and exclusive pokemon was fun to me.

I'm confused if OP is asking for a Stadium/PBR-like game or a game like Colosseum/GoD. I really would like an arena battler, but what do they really have to offer that the 3DS games can't do?
