A lot of the new Gen VII guys, unfortunately. I'm having a tough time picking effective mons without resorting to Wishiwashi and Kommo'o.

Luvdisc, Unown, Delibird, Castform, Maractus, Ledian, and Farfetch'd are all irredeemably terrible off the top of my head. I wanted to include Spinda and Delcatty, but they have access to a lot of moves and maybe could pass for being kind of viable in casual play?

Ledian is totally outclassed and cannot merit a slot on any serious team, as Meowstic and Ninjask do everything that Ledian can better defensively and offensively, respectively. It has terrible offensive stats, which nullifies its large offensive movepool, and a shallow support movepool, along with poor defenses and a 4x weakness to Stealth Rock, making it absolutely worthless on any team.

Agreed.
I tried ledian and by God what a shit p9kemon. It's good when you start out, but the second you encounter pokemon even close to your current level, ledian gets torn to pieces. It's a shame too, I kinda like power ranger ladybug.

I did a solo run of Ledian in GSC, earned my respect a bit. BoltBeam punches with Confuse Ray and a fast level growth rate does do things.

Unfortunately against Red having to rely on Freeze against Snorlax was just dumb. Any other and Red would have been food. The Pokemon really is garbage.

For the thread itself, realistically all Pokemon bar Unown can work to a degree of success in casual play. The exception is Wobbuffet, who is absolutely impossible to use in-game due to the way its strat works. You'll probably spend more time Struggling things to death than actually abusing CounterCoat.

Farfetch'd actually got a notable buff in like 30 to attack. It's still shit, but slapping a stick on it, and busting out the 100% crit rate shenanigans with Slash, Leaf Blade, and Night Slash can actually do some real damage now.
