My favourite thing about sun and moon was the ultra beast hunt at the end. I hope Pokemon does these things more.

That nothing changes in the overworld (other than the music in relevant places) to indicate that these things are a threat makes it feel half-assed

Don't think so. I mean, it's the highest level one you catch and its name in every language alludes to being a lord or king and it has the obligatory dragon typing most actual legendaries have.

But I don't think any of that actually means anything lore-wise and it's just their for flavor.

The UBs in SM have super high catch rates with Beast Balls, so they're probably the equivalent of Route 1 shitmons in Ultra Space.

I despise this about the game as well. NPCs didn't react to the Ultra Beasts enough or at all. The immersion/atmosphere was easily ruined.

Those are some of the best designs. All the UBs look like shit you retarded as fuck Gen 7 fag. The UBs are shit and were nothing but a ploy to get people interested in the games only to blueball the fans who expected much more of them. Once again Game Freak gets to wrack in dough they don't even deserve due to marketing instead of the actual quality of the game. I'm glad I pirated these shit games.
