Tripokalons themselves kind of sucked, but as a narrative device they served their purpose. Plus, you literally said in your post she has a sisterly relationship with Bonnie. And she formed friendships with other people along the way, including Shauna and Elle and others. Nothing remarkable about those other relationships, but they existed nonetheless.
Her relationship with Clemont was pretty much overlooked, though. They only interacted on occasion, and even when they did, it often involved Serena expressing dismay about Clemont's science autism.
