I find it hard to believe that a fire type like Vulpix couldn't be in your run of the mill Ice-type cave. Maybe even splitting into rivaling factions, insert Fire vs Ice trope here. I like most of the regional forms but I think a lot of other Pokémon could benefit from a handful of additional forms, especially bugs and crustaceans because of their incredible variety.
In general regional forms is a design opportunity as well as a teaching opportunity. You can make forms as close or distant to their IRL analogs as you want and kids will learn a little something they didn't know before picking up the game
Forms are underutilized. Winter forms could be a thing for mammalian designs and Grass-types.
