Besides, the routes capture and replicate the essence of a blizzard quite well: you can't see shit because of all the snow being blown horizontally by the wind keeps getting in your eyes no matter which direction you face and you're slowed down to a crawl because you just can't move fast even if the snow is "just" knee deep. Plus your team is constantly being whittled down by the infernal weather so you have to rest in those comfy cabins that you don't really want to leave because they're that one tiny hospitable spot in the middle of all that.
All in all, that's my favorite route in the entire franchise. It did get a little tedious on my 3rd playthrough, but then again everything did.
