Celes is A+ for defensive utlity, while Magnezone is only good for trapping steels. Celes offensive set is not as nearly as good as the Defensive set.
Protean is on the rise because people are far more prepared now for Ash-Greninja, and protean can check and kill it's Ash-Greninja checks. Ash-Greninja is the best cleaner in OU right now. amazing speed tier + huge power allow it to not only destroy HO, but also destroy Balance and clean very, very easly. Protean is an anchor of attacker, to use it's moveset to lure and destroy things that can stop your attacks/win condition
If you could use both of them (Ash-Greninja and Protean one) together, you would see why both of them are absolutely terrifying.
Ash-Greninja in the same spot as Talonflame the gen before. if you are not prepared for it, it's going pretty much destroy your team.
Also, Protean can't do jack shit against Stall beside killing himself with suicide orb, while Ash-Greninja having a problem, if it can take one pokemon it can actually start to pressure things beside the pink blob.
