Your water starter is similar to the idea I had for some time.
It would be two-stage elephant-like creature, first form based on a kettle, second is based on samovar. Both Steel/Water + have new "Boiling Water" ability, which works like Flash Fire, but power-ups Water moves when hit by Fire-type move.

I chose Ghost because djinns and ifrits are often depicted as demonic or wicked, especially the latter. Fire/Psychic might work too I guess, I honestly don't think I have any Psychic types yet, and Chandelure fills in that typing pretty well already.
Anyone else agree?

Also Plowypus looks a little to much like mamoswine to me. Otherwise there are mostly ok.

One thing I find odd is that its nose suddenly changes color. Other than that I know nothing of spriting so I don't know, looks okay to me.

I don't see any issues with the design on its own, but it seems a bit odd that the line goes from one to three and back to one. Did the other two become its claws?

No. The transition between Diglett and Dugtrio is justified by Diglett calling for others of its colony become a Dugtrio. Its final evolution is supposed to be the king/queen of the colony rising above the surface. It's based on the way Naked Mole-Rat colonies are structured, with the queen being 3 times the size of a normal member of its species. Its appearance is also based on a star-nosed mole, obviously.
