Joe is right though, Pokémon is all about casual play. 90% of all the players are casuals, so putting online play behind a paywall will only make them not play online and possibly not even buy the games. Casuals don't care about competitive, but playing with your friends over Wi-Fi is a big thing for them.

I guess it's time for me to quit Pokemon. There are more interesting games that I could be wasting my time with, the quality of Pokemon games keeps going down and Game Freak obviously doesn't give a fuck about fan input or hardcore fans. Pokemon going to the Switch will be the last straw and I honestly want it to happen so I'll feel like I'm forced to quit and won't come back.

It was already confirmed not every game will be paid online, some will have access to online features without the need to pay.

Whether or not Pokemon will be one of these games is yet to be seen, but you're retarded to instantly assume it's one over the other and shit on people for saying it might be the opposite of what you assume
