I like it, not my most favourite, but in top 20 probably yeah. Alos, its a perpetual clockwork gear collection thing. Still, its evos on one hand are actually understandable, but at the same time somewhat uninspired.

Hating Lucario isn't hipster. It's from how excessively marketed it was. It got a movie, a spot in the SSB roster, and an op mega. Not to mention GF literally hands you said mega in the middle of XY, forcing it to be the first mega used by most of us.

Popular =! Excessively marketed. It had its movie and spot in Smash before release, and is constantly being hyped up. Gf built it for success. They tried the same with Zoroark but it failed because of how stable Lucario's success was and how controversial gen V was to the average fan.

I wish people would stop looking at fighting types through the lens of other types. It's like complaining why fire types aren't blue nor mostly based on aquatic animals or complaining why ground types aren't based mainly on birds or insects that fly.

The appeal of Fighting types are their distinct focus on martial arts and strength--they're bound to look humanoid and brutish. Their designs work for their type.
