>>31648357>What, in your opinion, makes a good character, thenPersonality, flaws, agency, and at least a connection to the player. Nanu only has the personality part going for him as half assed as it is.
>what do you expect from children's games really?they could have easily done something regarding Nanu's apathy towards being Kahuna. Maybe he's getting tired of being the Kahuna. Perhaps thats why he apathetic to team skull/Guzma, because he knows they're harmless and wants Guzma to someday take his place as Kahuna. Tie it in to you actually catching Tapu Bulu somehow? I'd say at least have him help you with the aether infiltration like pic related, but that entire segment was a laughable shitshow. And of course lose the retarded back story with Looker(and the multiverse shit and Anabel too because why ruin 2 characters when you can ruin 3 right GF?), because nothing says lazy writing like tying a characters back story with that of another just because they share a similar occupation. Whats next? Were Misty and Marlon childhood friends just because they're both water type gym leaders? I wouldn't put it past GF at this point.
Many of the problems the characters of this series have are because they simply one shot characters. Once you beat them they're done, gen 4 and gen 5 actually took steps to remedy this by encountering gym leaders outside their gym which at least gave them a chance to be more than a one shot character even though they half assed it(a running theme with GF). Then they abandoned that with X/Y, the characters somehow became even more shit and then they had the nerve to show you some "moving" instrumental piece during the credits like you just finished a deep story.
The biggest problems I have with S/M tie into the fact that the main conflict with the villain doesn't have shit to do with the region at all. The Solgaleo/Lunala part felt contrived because of this, and Lillie is everything on how not to do a character arc.
