Using the Karp breeding method. He is male and without HA.

I'm trying to decide between Golurk, Volcarona, Gigalith and Hydreigon. Help me decide, /vp/!

Holy shit, is the magikarp method really that easy? I probably could have gotten this without having to use a bottle cap on his speed before bringing it in battle spot if I knew this beforehand

It means you can tell the IVs, gender or HA. Also faster.

E.g.
Say i want shiny Salazzle.
If i use the normal method, i have a chance of hatching useless shiny male salandit.
If i Karp, if a egg comes out shiny and male, i can turn it into a different mon that would be good as male shiny(e.g. Volcarona) and keeo hunting.

Same principle applies for HA

What about for pokemon with different gender ratios? The guide mentioned that genderless and single-gender pokemon can mess it up, but magikarp is 50-50. What if you use an 8:1 species? What if it's vice versa?

Okay so how you think about it
Imagine it rolls a number between 1 and 8 for gender.
On a Karp (50/50) 1-4 is male, 5-8 is female.
On a Salandit, 1-7 is male, 8 is female.

So if a Karp comes out male and shiny, Salandit is definitely male.
If a Karp is shiny female, about 1/4 odds Salandit is also.

With Genderless mons, alternate rejecting and collecting eggs- it skips the gender roll and keeps it right.

(However, I prefer to collect however many Karp eggs im supposed to, then replace w/ genderless mon, reject egg, pick up shiny)

Faster?
You have to hatch magikarp eggs until shiny, then soft reset, then get eggs again until the desired shiny.
How is doing double the work faster?

Because Magikarp eggs take only 500 steps to hatch with Flame Body in the party. Most mons take 2500-5000 steps. At most, you will have to hatch 30 extra eggs which is trivial in a long hunt.

Do you have to get the eggs from the girl until the shiny one? Or you just say you don't want that shit and get only the shinny egg?
If you have to get every single egg of the desired mon, what do you do with them afterwards?

How is this method faster if you have to hatch the magikarp eggs and then get and hatch the desired pokemon eggs too?

Because you only have to hatch at most 30 of the other mon's eggs.

After filling a box of Karp, release them and save. Start collecting 30 more eggs, repeat.

Ok. I got it now. Nobody mentioned this.
I was thinking of getting like 200 magikarp eggs until shiny, then SR, then 200 eggs of the other one.
