Played sun/moon for a bit, but stopped after I got to the first big city. It didn't feel that comfy honestly. Should I go back and try to play through it?

Yes, it's the best game in the series.

hold off judgment until after the first island. Shit terrible dialogue and years of forced cut scenes die off a bit. They still exist, and they are still obnoxious, but it reduces quite a bit after the first island.

Don't play if you don't feel like it, otherwise you'll get angry and hate the game. Try playing in shorter sessions if you feel like its boring but still really want to beat it.

Do what you want. I enjoyed it a bit but it feels less and less like a pokemon game after gen 5.

Gen 6 was too easy and had shit post game

Gen 7 has better difficulty level but still has shit post game but loses a lot of the exploration aspect: caves are super small. cities have most of the buildings locked or have only one room. Not to mention the game relies heavily on the story but inlike gen 5 doesnt offer much in return

Its more like watching a Pokemon movie/series with some gaming aspects than a typical game from gen 1-5 or even 6

I would not recommend purchasing it, but if you already own it... try it and see how it goes.
