Because they had the best games with the single best character in the series as your antagonist, had a lot of content, the story was at its peak in Generation V, the region was beautiful and the best music with just the correct amount of difficulty.

-The region revived steel, poison, and dark types with mons like Bisharp and Scolipede.

-the region was an actual challenge
And lets be real, PWT was far better than the battle tree.

BW2 was better, but BW was complete and total bullshit. They were telling people that Pokemon were unhappy, while many people exist that can understand Pokemon's feelings and will tell you otherwise. There are even devices like Pokétch that can destroy all of BW's plot. And people in BW were buying that bullshit. Team Plasma was stealing Pokemon and fossil, attacking people, yet they let them run around completely free, only just tried to defend against them. Fuck, Team Plasma had their base next to E4, underground, and no one noticed. And people call Gen 6's story bullshit and praise BW for being """"""deep"""""" because character act like they know shit and say how things aren't black and white.

It's perfectly logical that the people in the Pokémon world are equally ignorant and insane.

Also, the thing about team plasma convincing people of the ambiguity of their relationship with Pokémon was that it instilled doubt in it. They believed they were happy working together, they were told they aren't happy, and so the gullible masses suddenly had to rethink if the Pokémon were happy. It's just like if you have a girlfriend, if someone tells you in earnest that she doesn't love you, it'll make you look at what she's doing and doubt what you've seen before even if you thought everythinf was comfy cozy before (and even if it was.) Although I'm not sure if the girlfriend analogy will work with people on here.
