Odd numbered ones have typically drawn less off older games I guess? There really isn't too much of an overall pattern so much as just saying what you like more

I like odd-numbered gens because they're the ones that try to shake up the game a bit more by introducing more new features.
They make me feel new to the game again and I like it

if you removed all the even numbered gens, you'd get games with the biggest graphical improvements between them

generally, the last games on a system look the best because the devs had more experience with it. so, if experience wasn't an issue, we would've gone from gen 5 graphics to gen 7 graphics
