That guide exists to stop American companies who've never played the games or seen the anime from putting weird shit on their packaging like they'd sometimes do in the early days. Basically, they don't want someone writing a blurb for the back of a toy to spend two seconds on Google, see that the original name of the franchise is "Pocket Monsters", and assume that the games always call them "monsters".
