Blizzard Spam in hail a very big deal in VGC 2010. Usually, Teams would run a slow, bulky Abomasnow and a fast Mewtwo to sandwich the opposing teams in two layers of Blizzard at varying speeds. Simply setting up Blizzards in Trick Room was a thing as well too though.
Despite not being on the chart, Trick Room + Hail was a strategy used in VGC 2015 as well. I can't look up the name anymore (because Nuggetbridge is fucking dead) but there was a player who managed to top cut (and even win?) a bunch of regionals with an Abomasnow, Jellicent, Togekiss core.
Despite the seemingly bad typing and middling stats, Abomasnow has a lot of competitive history under it's belt.
