In fact, the game is set in Kanto and you're Red (no girl option), your rival is Blue and the professor is Oak. Only the first 150 are available at all and you cannot transfer until after beating the game. Bag space is limited to 99 copies each for 20 different items, the rest must be stored in the PC.
