Why didn't Morty have Misdreavus in the original Gold and Silver? You literally go through the entire game and beat all 16 gym leaders before you even see a wild Misdreavus. What were they thinking?

Also, Karen in the Elite Four should have had Tyranitar. You go through the whole game without even seeing a Larvitar, Pupitar, or Tyranitar until Mt Silver

Why the hell did Claire have three Dragonairs and Lance have three Dragonites? It made them seem very amateurish as trainers.

Sure there was a lack of dragon types back then, but they could have mixed things up a bit like the following:
>Claire: Dratini, Dragonair, Seadra, Kingdra
>Lance: Ampharos (aka Denryu aka Electric Dragon), Gyarados, Dragonair, Charizard, Aerodactyl, Dragonite

Each one of Lance's Dragonite had at least one move of the three main elements of RPGs, with exception of the third one that had Outrage instead of Blizzard.

Falkner should have had a Noctowl instead of a Pidgeotto. His Pidgeotto was seriously underleveled anyways. Also why did he give out the TM for a ground type move?

Johto gym leaders are just complete ass in general. It's amazing how they improved in HGSS, like how Bugsy uses Metapod as a bodyguard for his U-Turn Scyther.

his ace SHOULD be Skarmory, but from a game design perspective a bulky Steel type in the first gym is absurd. At least Noctowl is a Johtomon, is fully evolved, and exemplifies the day/night mechanic by making you see one when you otherwise wouldn't.

I still can't believe it introduced only one new dragon type and only one new ghost type, the two most sorely lacking types of all at the time.
Evem crazier, Lugia could have been a dragon type and we would have had the first true legendary dragon before they became too common. I think Ho-oh is described as a dragon bird by one npc.

Tyranitar is too good for an E4 member, they always give pseudos to the champs.

I agree that the gym leaders like morty could have used weaker new Pokémon, but larvitar seemed like a hidden reward available to the player after beating the game

Lore wise, only champions can get into Mt silver anyways. So she wouldn't have gotten one

Not every new Pokémon needs to be used all the time by trainers, leave some for the player to find

Lance had a pseudo in gen 1 and he was only an E4 member, not the champ. Also the dragon dude in gen 3 has Salamence. I understand reserving the pseudos and letting people discover Pokémon, it just seems dumb that you don't even see any form of Larvitar until the game is already over.
