I don't think they'll outright skip the Ultra Beasts. I just don't expect them to be taken too seriously. For example:
>episode where Kartana runs around cutting shit
>it's so small nobody even sees the thing
>wacky hijinx like someone's chair getting cut from under them or a tree falling on Team Rocket
>Ash finally corners the thing, scans it, and goes "that thing's an Ultra Beast!?"
>fight scene and Z-move
>portal opens up when its defeated and it goes home
>the characters muse a bit about the Ultra Beasts, then there some dun dun duuuun foreshadowing with Lusamine
Rinse and repeat for all of them, replacing the comic relief as appropriate (silly episode where Kiwane falls in love with Pheramosia and acts like an idiot, the entire cast trying to beat Buzzswole at beach hunk contest, characters running around in the dark because Xircuitree is causing blackouts at bad times, ect).
