Doesnt matter, usually there was at least 2 year break between first games and 3rd version/sequel. If you think Necrozma game would happen right away this year then it wont

Besides Necrozma has a regular form on the set its the mascot of and obviously it would get a new form if it had something special going on soon like Giratina, Kyurem or Zygarde (who didnt get a game but still was a star of the entire anime season)

Its not about just patterns. Sun and Moon was just released. Rushing third version/sequel within the first year of new generation just doesnt make any sense because you still want people to buy the first game instead of leaving it in the favor of upcoming upgrade. And the placeholder art from TCG usually stays the same later on anyway

Since the movie is (finally) Ho-oh centric, Necrozma could be the final boss of the film. Guess this means that the movie will (hopefully) deviate from the anime canon at some point, but that was a given since Ash's hat is different.

It would be neat if the Marshadow movie is not involved with anime canon like the 2017 film. The current anime canon is a mess, and any attempt at straying away from it is a good thing.

No, you don't, because the TCG is not the anime, and it is not the games. It is a seperate entity that incorporates elements of the games. In fact it has nothing to do with the anime outside of that one Mew card for the first movie. I don't even think they've ever made a card with Ash on it.
