Personality and character depth are two different things. They're connected, as one affects the other, but not the same.
And yes, I would rather have a character with fun, interesting and likeable personality over a """"deep"""" character. Quite literally the only thing a character needs to achieve is make the view like them. Cyrus, for all his depth, fails at the first step. I couldn't care less about him. If I was forced to watch a story either following Hau or Cyrus, I'd pick the former without any hesitation.
And no, I wouldn't watch Trevor or Tierno. They were both boring. I didn't care about their goals, their personalities weren't bright and fun like Hau's, and they overall did nothing that captured my interest for even a second.
