How are they going to incorporate Alola forms in future games that don't take place in Alola?

Will there be an option to send your mons on 'vacation' there and have them come back in alola form? Or with an egg?

they are called regional forms. so 0/10. so i believe other regions might offer other regional forms, if gf didnt just use this shit as a gimmick for alola. also, we only have 151 kantomons anyway. so some pokemon are bound to get more than one regional form.

You get them by leveling up near a palm tree, similar to how Eevee evolves into Leafeon when leveling up near a moss stone.

You can breed non-alolan forms in SuMo via an everstone, so they will keep that mechanic once the latest gen moves to the next region. Bank kinda makes it redundant for the need to have alolan forms catchable in other regions.

As for the ones that hatch into the same mon and evolve (i.e. cubone), wouldn't surprise me if they just use it as an excuse for people to buy SuMo on the nintendo store and force you to pokebank them up.

I think the evolution ones (raichu, exeggutor and marowak) will be via a special npc like the ones that give you the tutors for melloetta and whatnot

Also, since Cubone, Exeggcute and Pikachu's evolutions into their Alolan forms depend on location, I also except some kind of solar powered greenhouse type of building that mimics Alola's weather for their evolutions.

Doesn't change the fact that they weren't removed. They're still in the games.

The reason a big deal wasn't made about is because they aren't new ones.

We're not in Gen 6 anymore, pushing Megas would be like pushing breeding or double battles. It was in the last game, so we expect it to be there, we want to know about the new stuff (Z-Moves).

But they weren't retconned out. Gamefreak goes to retarded lengths to keep all the different forms of Pokemon in. You know, all those NPCs that give you items for legendaries that aren't even in the region, a mossy rock/icy rock for leafeon/glaceon, a magnetic area for probopass and magneton, everstone breeding for kanto forms, etc. I don't see why a mechanic for alolan forms is out of line with that.

I really hope this is the case.

Also, maybe they won't. Unlike new species altogether that require stuff like a Moss Rock or a Coronet, Alola forms share Pokedex Numbers and aren't needed for a National Pokedex. The only known way to get one will be to transfer from an Alola game, and they'll only return for the Gen VII remakes more than a decade later.

Other ones will be transfer only

Besides just like GF dropped the name Amie for Refresh i can see them dropping "Alola forms" just for "alternate form" or "regional variant"

well, alolan marowak can only evolve at night.
so, the obvious method is that evolving during the day gets regular and at night gets alolan form.
a bit lore breaky but it works.

It'll be like Sawsbuck forms, something only capturable in Alola that you can breed more of in the later games if you like.

If they wanted they could add an Alola Incense to let you breed/evolve the Kanto forms into Alola forms for easier accessibility.

Regional Forms is already the term for the feature in Japan. Alola Form is just what these forms that occur in Alola specifically are called.
